The Grammy nominated, Rise not only showcased her tremendous prowess as a young master of the sitar but also put on display her amazing talent as a composer and songwriter. This special package features five brilliant remixes of tracks on Rise. Karsh Kale, Thievery Corporation and Gaurav Raina of the Midival Punditz are names synonymous with masterful music production and on the bonus disc of Rise they put their skills to optimal use, each of them lending a unique style and space to the already fascinating Rise compositions. Also lending his skills to the endeavor is the Delhi based DJ Jayant whose reworking of the track, “Sinister Grains” demands our rapt attention. Each of these remixes give us a taste of creative musical combustion at it’s electrical best. The release of Rise saw Anoushka Shankar embark on a nationwide tour of India and a 26 city tour of Europe through the year to promote the album. The heavy touring in Europe lead to Rise entering the top ten on iTunes pop charts in various countries, including going to number 1 in Spain and Italy. Anoushka also performed at the pre-telecast ceremony at the 48th Grammy Awards in 2005. If anything, Rise: Gold Edition is merely a marker of all that Anoushka Shankar has managed to achieve, not only in the span of one year but since she took up the sitar as a young girl of nine.
